My personal recollection of family photos is blurred by denim pants and white tee-shirts. There is a haze of cheesy smiles and unnatural poses. Surely we are somewhere in the archives of Awkward Family Photos and one day we will surface into the sphere of the interweb.
This family photo session was nothing like that. (None of them are for that matter.) Our job as photographers (as we see it) is to capture real and natural moments. The Oness family made that very easy for us. Tanna, Mike and Scarlett are the most relaxed, most chill and most adorable family ever. We spent some time hanging out and snapping photos at their beautiful South Edmonton home and then ventured to a nearby lookout point.
These family photos capture a moment in time when Scarlett was an adorable drool monster , a crawling (probably almost walking) 6 month old, when she was lounging in her beautiful crib that was once her mom's, when her shoes would NOT stay on and when she was happiest hanging with her mega-babe parents and her Wolfy. To me, that's what family photos are meant to be - a moment in history. A real moment. Not a really denim moment. But sometimes denim.
